Switching to a Clean Deo?
#CLEANSWAP
If you haven’t already made the switch to a clean deodorant, I highly encourage you to consider making the switch.
WHY?
First, and foremost … for your health! Antiperspirants include toxic chemicals, which have been linked to negative effects on our health.
Here’s a list of the toxic chemicals found in most drugstore deodorants (blog post by Primarily Pure) and the various effects they may have on your overall wellbeing:
Aluminum – Linked to Alzheimer’s disease and heavy metal toxicity
Parabens – Endocrine/hormone disruptors, found in 99% of breast cancer tissue sampled in this study.
Propylene glycol – Classified as skin irritant by the EWG
Phthalates – Endocrine disruptors linked to permanent birth defects
Triclosan – Linked to liver toxicity and thyroid dysfunction
Formaldehyde contaminated synthetics – carcinogenic
Fragrance – Cocktail of chemicals creating skin sensitivities and irritation
A little background on antiperspirants vs deodorants. Antiperspirants are designed to stop you from sweating all together, trapping toxins. Deodorants are made to stop you from having smelly armpits, but allow you to sweat toxins out of your body.
Switching to a deodorant from an antiperspirant can be HARD. You may (or may not) experience temporary odor while your armpits detox from the toxins that have been trapped by the antiperspirants. But lucky for you, I have compiled some of my favorite tips to make the process easier. Trust me, it will be WORTH it!
TIPS:
Be patient. You may smell. It takes about 2-4 weeks for your body to detox.
Find a deodorant that’s right for you. Some natural deodorants that contain baking soda, can cause irritation.
Use a charcoal body wash or soap to clean impurities. A charcoal mask can even help too!
Sweat it out! The more you sweat, the faster you will detox.
Make the switch during a time you know you won’t be around many people (hello pandemic!)
NOTABLE BRANDS:

Remember to be patient. It’s a process. And well worth it! If you have any questions about this subject, feel free to reach out and I can help you through this stinky process.
